LFC Transfer Gossip & Player Updates

Kalidou Koulibaly (SSC Napoli)

Liverpool are lining up a move for the 28 year-old Senegalese central defender who is reportedly excited by the prospect of playing in the Premier League.

According to the Daily Express, Koulibaly is subject to interest from both Liverpool and Manchester United, although it is Newcastle United who are said to have tabled the highest offer to date.

Liverpool’s offer is believed to be worth €60 million & Divock Origi as a makeweight.

Although the prospect of the Senegalese playing alongside Virgil Van Dijk in the heart of Liverpool’s defense is a mouthwatering one, it does not appear to fit the mould of FSG’s transfer strategy.

Any such move would also have to be facilitated by the sale of one of the Reds’ current central-defenders; Devan Lovren being the obvious choice. However, it is yet to be seen if there will be a willing buyer for the Croat, particularly with the uncertainty of the transfer market post-COVID-19.

Timo Werner (RB Leipzig)

Perhaps the biggest transfer saga of the summer so far; Timo Werner’s move away from RB Leipzig has taken many twists and turns to date.

Various media reported this week that Liverpool had met with Werner and his representatives and were unable to come to an agreement. However, as per the Liverpool Echo, LFC are yet to meet with Werner officially.

Either way, Werner has been very public in his affection for LFC and many believe the Merseyside club are simply doing some number crunching before they table a bid.

LFC Australia & New Zealand would love to see this transfer come to fruition, Werner is certainly adaptable enough to do well at Anfield.

Wout Weghorst (VfL Wolfsburg)

A player who is certainly not a household name in the UK, but is quickly earning himself a reputation in Germany. Wout Weghorst is Wolfsburg’s Dutch fox in the box.

Wout Weghorst: An Analysis

As the video above demonstrates, Weghorst is an absolute workhorse who defends from the front as well as Roberto Firmino.

His all round play may not be as polished as the Brazilian number 9, but he certainly represents a lower-cost transfer alternative to Timo Werner.

Weghorst recently admitted his ambition to play in the Premier League as well as his love for Liverpool FC’s famous anthem; You’ll Never Walk Alone.

LFCAUNZ can’t see this being much more than paper talk as the Dutchman is under contract at Wolfsburg until 2023.

Adama Traoré (Wolverhampton Wanderers)

Liverpool have been consistently linked to the ex-Barcelona man over the last 12 months. Although the £100 million price tag that had been spoken about prior to the Coronavirus pandemic would completely price LFC out of the market.

Again, Liverpool FC Australia & NZ are very sceptical about this transfer coming through. Liverpool have so many options in wide-positions at present, it would make no sense to spend such a huge amount on a player who would not be guaranteed a starting spot.

Rav van den Berg (PEC Zwolle)

As per De Stentor, Liverpool have reportedly had an approach for Rav van den Berg rejected by the 15 year old.

The younger brother of current LFC player, Sepp van den Berg, Rav is also a central defender who is currently learning his trade with boyhood club PEC Zwolle.

It is reported that Liverpool, AC Milan, Ajax and PSV Eindhoven have all had approaches rejected by the youngster who has instead opted to sign another 2-year deal with Zwolle.

The contract is reported to have the option of a third year available to the young Dutchman; it would appear that if the Van Den Berg brothers are to play together for Liverpool, it will have to wait a few years yet.

Adam Lallana (Liverpool FC)

Adam Lallana will be one of the most valuable free transfers on the market this summer.

The former England midfielder has been severely restricted in his playing time in 2019/20. However, he is still undoubtedly a class act and is also at a premium because of his home-grown status.

Leicester are believed to be in prime position to sign the former Southampton Captain, with Brendan Rodgers reportedly keen to link up with his former Anfield signing. The Foxes are certainly an enticing prospect for Lallana with the prospect of Champions League football on the horizon.

With Arsenal, Tottenham, West Ham and now Burnley all linked to the 32 year-old in recent times, Lallana is sure to have a number of potential suitors for next season.
